What I’d Buy for a Better Fall Cleaning Caddy

I do not think every home needs a large, beautifully organized cleaning caddy. I do think almost every home benefits from a small, honest one. Fall is when that matters most, because the house starts needing quicker resets and the tools need to be ready when you reach for them.

The caddy I would buy would not be packed full. It would hold the things that actually reduce friction: a couple of good cloths, one small brush, a shallow tray or divider, and the cleaners I reach for often enough to justify keeping them together. The point is not to collect tools. The point is to shorten the distance between seeing a mess and doing something about it.

Start with the cloths

Good cloths matter more than almost anything else in a caddy. They are what touch the surface first. They are what decide whether the tool feels useful or annoying. I would rather have two or three cloths that wash well and do their job than a bin full of odd extras nobody trusts.

Add one brush that earns its space

A small brush is useful for corners, trim, threshold dirt, and the spots that do not respond to a cloth alone. It does not need to be clever. It just needs to be sturdy enough to move the kind of household dirt that appears as the season changes.

Keep the cleaners simple
